Spice, spice baby

The Spicer baby will be #premium.
On May 19, 2014, U.S. history teacher Tim Spicer and his wife Jen, will be expecting their first child; a baby girl to be named Grace Kathryn Spicer.
“We chose Grace because of the religious significance of the name and because we like the way it sounds,” said Spicer.
Becoming a parent is more nerve wracking than people might think because, well, its high school and no one thinks that far ahead. However, Spicer has aspired to be a father from the beginning.
“For almost my entire life, I’ve looked forward to being a dad,” said Spicer “I’ve envisioned doing all sorts of fun and cheesy family activities like backyard whiffle ball games, beach vacations, Civil War battlefield trips, etc.”
Spicer is known for being a supportive and outgoing teacher connecting one-on-one with his students. He intends to translate these qualities into fatherhood.
“I look forward to taking an interest in the things important to Grace whether that means doing father-daughter activities involving things she enjoys, coaching her teams or just stepping aside and cheering her on,” said Spicer.
For Spicer, parenting and teaching will go hand and hand. As Spicer was a student not long ago, he has a good understanding of the hard work and pressure students go through, but he has yet to experience being on the opposite side of the spectrum.
“I think having Grace in my life will affect my teaching in a positive way… Being a Dad will help me relate to a parent’s concerns and outlook towards school,” said Spicer.
Though becoming a parent is an exciting experience that Spicer is ready to embark upon this huge life transition is daunting for a first time dad.
“My most immediate fear is my inability to properly hold an infant. My technique needs improvement. I also lack confidence, fearing I will somehow break the child,” said Spicer “in a larger sense, I’m nervous about caring so much that I will give Grace whatever she wants. This, of course, is non-premium parenting and will surely result in her being a spoiled brat.”
The Spartan family is confident that Spicer will be able to overcome these fears and be the great dad we know he will be.
“Everyone tells me that the moment you first see your child changes your life,” said Spicer “I can’t wait to experience that moment and embark on my most important job: being the best Dad possible for Grace.”
