‘American Horror Story’ is scary good

From living in a house full of murderous ghosts, to dealing with the mentally ill in a creepy asylum, and selling baby souls to the underworld, “American Horror Story” never fails to excite.
“American Horror Story” is a show on FX that features three seasons with three different story lines. Each season incorporates some type of supernatural theme within the plot.
Ever since its debut in 2011, AHS has shocked the world with its controversial content and somewhat disturbing scenes, however has proven to be a hit with viewers.
The show has received five Emmy nominations and has won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, as well as ten Prime Time Emmy nominations at this year’s Emmy awards. The winner of the Best Performance award, Jessica Lange, plays a major role in every season, alongside actors such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe.
The most recent season named “American Horror Story: Coven” features a storyline about Miss Robichaux’s Academy, a school for young girls who are descendants of Salem witches. The witches are led by Fiona Good, the supreme witch whose powers are the strongest, and Cordelia Foxx, the academy’s headmistress. The arch rival of the witches who just so happens to live not so far away, is the infamous Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, who has caused trouble to the witches for centuries.
While the storyline might seem to be a complete work of fiction, not all of it came from someone’s twisted imagination. Marie Laveau, the so called “Voodoo Queen of New Orleans”, is actually a real historical figure. Laveau lived in New Orleans in the mid 1800’s, and was known for practicing voodoo rituals with her family and many of her followers.
Another historical reference [SPOILER ALERT] is the evil, blood craving, former murderer, Delphine LaLaurie. While living in New Orleans, LaLaurie held her slaves captive and tortured them in her very own basement.
American Horror Story’s shocking scenes will continue to hit viewers T.V. screens in the near future. With no specific release date set, the show has confirmed a fourth season, and rumor has it that the new season’s theme will have something to do with a circus.
If you’re the type of person that enjoys watching scary movies and sitting on the edge of your seat in fear, then this show is for you.
