She’s not Hannah Montana anymore

Well, a hot dog is involved. And then there’s Miley Cyrus.
Most of us recognize Cyrus’ global superstardom in association with her role in Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana,” but our little innocent country girl is not so innocent anymore.
After a shocking performance at the 2009 “Teen Choice Awards,” Cyrus’ claim to fame shifted to something a little raunchier. She definitely wasn’t the Disney star we had grown to know and love, what with her shenanigans with Robin Thicke. In fact, the pop singer has undeniably made an interesting mark on the music industry over the past several years.
Based on the nature of her recent performances, it was safe to say that Cyrus’ new “Bangerz” tour—named for her new CD—which launched on Valentine’s Day would follow the same trend of racy antics. Although she’s only done a few performances so far, it’s become clear that the new Miley really “can’t be tamed.” Soccer moms are shocked and Cyrus’ 38-city tour, which comes to the Verizon Center next week, has grabbed a lot of negative attention.
Cyrus’ innuendo-filled show hasn’t been well-received by parents whose kids were exposed to such an indecent performance instead of the more tame, appropriate Miley they expected to see. In fact, complaints about Cyrus’ scandalous performance have driven down the ticket sales.
Despite the negative press surrounding her tour, Cyrus still has her “smilers” to fall back on. If anything, her fan base has been strengthened in light of her recent inflammatory performances. Some people think that her transformation into this racy character is an expression of her feminism and her right to step out of the conforming role she’s always felt the need to fill.
Although this tour has brought an onslaught of adverse publicity and reviews and some US arenas have gone so far as to threaten cancellation if the behavior isn’t toned down, Cyrus keeps her head up—and tongue out—and continues to promise her fans a performance they will never forget.
The popularity of her album remains strong and Cyrus’ hit song ,“Wrecking Ball,” still remains at the top of charts nationwide, so aside from all the controversy surrounding the tour, “Bangerz” has been a huge success for Cyrus and she plans on continuing to be her unique self on and off the stage, Soccer Mom protests, or not.
